Our work is built on a peacebuilding, rights-based, people-centred, and participatory approach that empowers communities to own and lead sustainable change. Peacebuilding is the foundation of all our interventions, informing how we design, implement, and measure our impact across Eastern Africa, the Great Lakes, and the Horn of Africa.
Core Focus Areas
Our methodology blends several high-impact focus areas to achieve comprehensive transformation: conflict transformation, leadership development, human rights advocacy, gender empowerment, civic engagement, artivism, and evidence-based research.
We work in deep partnership with communities, adopting an adaptive, co-creative process. We begin by listening to ensure our solutions are inclusive, sustainable, and grounded in lived realities.
How We Deliver Change
To translate our vision into tangible change, we employ a set of practical, community-driven delivery tools:
- Capacity Building: We strengthen local ownership by providing targeted training and mentorship in leadership and organisational development for activists and community groups.
- Community Dialogues: We facilitate understanding and resolution through structured platforms like Round Table discussions and Forums, creating space for consensus and collective action.
- Civic Engagement & Social Accountability: We enhance good governance by driving Social Accountability and Public Participation Initiatives. These efforts empower citizens to demand transparency and better service delivery.
- Advocacy: We leverage our expertise to influence policy and public opinion. This includes deploying Position Papers and utilising both mainstream and online media to advocate for human rights and justice.
- Artivism and Expression: We use Artistic Expression as a powerful, creative tool for healing, dialogue, and mobilising communities, turning shared cultural symbols into platforms for peace.
- Research and Documentation: We conduct Evidence-Based Research to document successes, analyse challenges, and provide the crucial data needed to inform effective policies and evaluate our programming.
Through this blended, practical approach, we ensure that every intervention we undertake is designed to start change from the ground up.
